Dear friends in Jukskei

At last, I can send it through!! Attached you’ll find the final itinerary for the upcoming Jukskei tour to the USA. It’s a 31 page Adobe Acrobat (pdf) document and it’s filled with a busy, rich and rewarding program, colourfully and appropriately illustrated with interesting photos.

The members of the touring group: – take your time to carefully study the document and take specific note of the six very busy days (filled with plenty of Jukskei and Horseshoe Pitching activities), which we’ll be spending in Cedar Rapids, during the World Tournament of Horseshoe Pitching. A number of people intensely collaborated to make this itinerary a reality and I do want to thank Celia Lourens (a very very special word of thanks to you there in Baltimore, USA); Tina Hawkins, Ralph Palmer & Gary Roberts (from the Horseshoe Pitching Association); Danny Passaglia (the President of the USA Bocce Association in Chicago); the Management Committee of Jukskei’s USA Touring Group (Anna, Tjaart, Tinus & Melanie); Minette Jacobs (who designed the itinerary) and every other tour member or supporter for their contribution.

On Saturday afternoon, the 17^th of July, I was granted an interview by the Sports Desk of SA FM, a national radio station (broadcasting on 107 FM). Approximately eight meaningful minutes were dedicated to the upcoming tour and a number of very positive responses were received afterwards. Thank you very much to Daleen Roos and Lizette Lombard (the Corporate Communication team of Jukskei SA) for making this promotional broadcast possible.

I do want to, once again, convey my most sincere appreciation to the Executive Committees of Jukskei SA and the Namibian Jukskei Board for their royal financial support of this event. May Jukskei, in its broadest sense reap the fruits of this investment. Dirk and Celia Lourens (our USA support team) also contributed generously to this event, and especially to our activities during the first five days (during which our second training camp will take place) in and around the USA capitol, Washington, DC. Thank you indeed!!

You’ll still receive a number of e-mails related to logistical, dress code and financial arrangements from Anna and Melanie, but this is perhaps the last formal word from me, before I see you on Thursday afternoon (the 22^nd of July) at around 15:00 in the international departure hall of OR Tambo International Airport. It’s now really a reality and only 90 hours into the future. It’s here!!
